Secret Society
Resonate spent the late 90′s early 2000′s honing his production skills and djing at various clubs around the country. He was also resident DJ at Connexion, a night His brothers used to run with LDouble and Flex Records. Tohm Tronic (AKA The Weaver) had over twenty record releases in the early years, the majority of these with producer (and Brother) Modular under the name Stomp & Weaver (other co-labs incl Outrage, Double O & LDouble). Some stand out tracks were The Underground/Devils Sister on Flex, Satellites & Freaks on Hardleaders along with numerous releases on their own label – LABLOGIC.
Through the Early 2000′s TT lost the hunger and desire to produce D & B due to the number of formulated and commercial tracks out there. Most gigs were lacking that dark vibe that had motivated him for so long, so he spread his wings and worked on other music projects. These spanned most forms of electronic music and eventually a fully realised Hip Hop project under the name Swampfoot. TT co-wrote and produced an EP and a sixteen track album which Resonate also worked on. Overall this project was a big success as they gigged with the likes of Blade, Skinnyman, Foreign Beggars and Task Force (to name a few).
Deep down though the dark beats of yesteryear we’re calling and Resonate sensed this, nagging TT to start back on the D & B vibe. Thus Secret Society was born, along with their own record label Digi-Lab. They have also released music on other labels including Nerve, Syncopathic and J-tek Records and their biggest release at this point, Grindhouse/Tabla Jam on Outrage’s Backlash Imprint, which gained regular rotation on Nihal & Bobby friction’s Radio 1 Show.
Now in 2010 Secret Society are branching out further with full vinyl and CD releases due for Digi-Lab, two Nu Skool Jungle Tekno labels (Pure-Tone & Global Plan) and monthly night called Soup @ SCY in Lincoln. Also they have loads of remix projects and collaborations planned, so things don’t look like letting up for the duo any time soon…
